Design Guidelines: Direct to Film (DTF) Transfers
DTF (Direct to Film) prints your design onto a special film and heat-presses it onto the garment. It’s the most versatile method we offer — bright, durable and works on almost any fabric and colour.
File requirements
- Format: PNG with a transparent background
- Resolution: 300 PPI at print size
- Colour mode: RGB (converted automatically in production)
- Maximum print area: 32 × 50 cm
- Colours: unlimited full colour
Why choose DTF
- Works on cotton, polyester and blends — and on any garment colour, including dark fabrics
- Reproduces bright colours, fine detail and small text crisply
- Transfers have a smooth, slightly raised feel and stand up well to washing
Tips for the best result
- Use a transparent background — the design only transfers where there’s artwork
- Keep text and thin lines clean; DTF holds detail well, but very small type can still fill in
- Supply the highest-resolution file you have for the sharpest transfer
Best all-rounder: for bold, colourful artwork on dark or mixed fabrics, DTF is usually the best choice.
