Design Guidelines: Embroidery
Embroidery is stitched into the garment with thread rather than printed, so designs need to be bold and simple to stitch cleanly.
Artwork
- Send clear, high-contrast artwork (vector or a high-resolution PNG) — our team converts it into a digitised stitch file
- Colours: up to 6 thread colours for flat embroidery; up to 2 for 3D (puff) embroidery on caps
Minimum sizes
- Line width: 1.25 mm (flat) / 7.5 mm (3D)
- Lettering: around 5 mm per letter
- Typical areas: ~10 × 10 cm on clothing, 12 × 5 cm on caps, 11 × 4 cm on beanies
Works well vs. avoid
- Works well: bold shapes, thick lines, solid fills and readable type
- Avoid: fine detail, tiny text, gradients and large empty (negative-space) areas
If in doubt, simplify — clean, chunky designs always embroider better than intricate ones.
